Daniel Island Neighborhood Association “DINA” is a volunteer organization formed by residents and sanctioned by the City of Charleston in 1998.
DINA's mission is to preserve and enhance the quality of life on Daniel Island. DINA is the recognized voice of all residents of Daniel Island in advocating for and resolving issues needing the attention of the City of Charleston, Berkeley County and the State of South Carolina.
DINA is a member of the City of Charleston's Neighborhood Council. The City's Neighborhood Services division facilitates an annual meeting between groups of Neighborhood Presidents and the Mayor.
**DINA is not affiliated with the Daniel Island Property Owners' Association**

Andrea Sullivan I grew up just outside Los Angeles, California, attended the University of Southern California (yes, the other USC), where I studied Urban & Regional Planning & Development. I spent 20 years working as an educational facilities planner for K-12 school districts & county offices of education from San Diego to San Francisco overseeing Facilities Planning, Construction, Maintenance & Operations programs, developing facilities master plans, as well as, creating and implementing school bond programs. I was living in Corona del Mar, CA, when I met my husband Tory who grew up in San Diego. He was living on Balboa Island at the time. We were married on Castaway Island, Fiji almost 17 years ago. Tory & I share a love of the ocean, snorkeling, sailing, scuba diving, dogs, horses, wine and travel. We spent 6 years enjoying living at a slower pace in Tucson, Arizona, where I became an avid equestrian, competing in the hunter jumper show circuit across Arizona, California and Colorado. Having retired from my school construction career, I decided to get my real estate license in Arizona because of my love of architecture & design, and found that it leveraged my years of planning, negotiating and building. There's nothing more exciting than helping a family relocate into their perfect new home. We moved to Daniel Island mid-February 2020 with our furry kids Fiji, Sparkles and Olive. I am working as a licensed South Carolina realtor. While I don't have my own horse here (yet), I have been lucky to continue to ride at Sea Hunter Farm in Huger. Tory & I have also taken up tennis playing on several doubles teams at LTP DI. DINA exists to be a civic voice for Daniel Island residents within the City of Charleston and Berkeley County governments as well as the surrounding communities. As President, my main goal is to reinvigorate DINA through COMMUNICATION, ENGAGEMENT and VISIBILITY within the Daniel Island Community as well as our City, County and DIPOA officials.

Bob Michalak In July, 2019 Kate and I moved from Western New York to beautiful Daniel Island. Our five children, their spouses and seven grandchildren love to visit as often as possible. Decades of experience practicing law, coupled with mechanical and chemical engineering degrees, have given me the opportunity to represent developers, contractors and owners in contract negotiations, bidding issues and project disputes. I have been a partner in a 100-member law firm, a university business law lecturer, a speaker and author for various organizations and a former board member of the 900-member Construction Exchange of Buffalo and WNY. I also represented clients in structuring business relationships and real estate commercial leases. DINA is the officially recognized organization for all of Daniel Island to review and comment on neighborhood-oriented matters and to communicate with elected officials, developers and businesses. I have extensive experience dealing with government departments such as planning boards, permit issuing entities and citizen action organizations. Issues facing Daniel Island include road and infrastructure plans and maintenance, traffic problems, highway noise as well as crime in our neighborhoods. DINA needs to be a more visible organization to fully represent all Daniel Island residents. I welcome the opportunity to serve my community as DINA’s Vice-President/Board Member to help ensure Daniel Island continues as a safe, clean, accessible, family friendly place with plenty of options for a healthy, active lifestyle.

Debbie Geilfuss I graduated from the College of Charleston in 2008 with a BS in Corporate Communications. While pursuing my education as an adult learner, I was involved in my children’s schools in various leadership roles. On Daniel Island I served as the local Girl Scout Troop Leader for more than 4 years. Most recently I was employed at Bishop England High School as a Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager. In my role, my skills in Corporate Communications led me to realize my passion for writing, and this developed my skills and experience in working within a community of educators, parents and students. Upon leaving Bishop England I have volunteered with LowCountry Food Bank, and would like to now serve the community where I raised my three children, and lived and worked for more than 20+ years. As the Secretary, my goal will be to serve as the communicator and supporter of the DINA Board within the Daniel Island Community.
